Liebster Love

The Liebster love has come to GD, thanks Pixelkaffe! To make this a little easier (and less tedious for the readers out there) I and Mylex will do our answers in the same post! In reality it’s just Mylex being too lazy to make his own post and tag his own victims but whatever.

11 random facts about Noctua:
1. My favourite number is 125 and it changes every year on my birthday (in accordance to a schedule I made when I was 7).
2. People say I think too much. How can someone think too much?? I can see how one could think too little.
3. Money and fame Honesty and transparency are the qualities I value most in people I meet.
4. I name my computers. This one is called Ivy.
5. My wildest and deepest desire as a child was to have a secret room that no one but me knew existed. In the absence of such a room (and since my mum could not be pursueded to hire the workers needed to design such a room for me) I once put a little lamp and a chair in a tiny closet where I would read books for hours while people where looking for me.
6. I’m extremely sensitive to bright colours that don’t match… It’s an unwelcomed legacy from my mother who taught me about complementary colour schemes from a very young age.
7. I’m often openly hypocritical. Take this situation for an example; I love asking other people questions but I am easily unnerved by answering them myself. I’m very cagey by nature and even writing these 11 facts about myself is proving a very long and uncomfortable process!
8. I don’t like having much things. I dislike things. Ideally I want to be able to fit all my things into a big suitcase and that’s it.
9. Ivy is my most valued possession.
10. I’m absolutely awful at keeping female friends. (Note to self: ask yourself if this is why you give your computers female names and reevaluate your life as a whole.)
11. One of my favourite things to do is to analyse people I meet and understand what makes them tick. For all the time I’ve wasted on this I am quite remarkably bad at figuring myself out.

Pixelkaffe’s questions!

Noctua’s answers:
When did you start playing MMOs?
I started playing SWTOR about two years ago I think.

How do you choose your character name(s)?
Well, I had named my computer at the time Holly Golightly and I named my first character Hollyaxus after my computer. Weird I know. I later renamed Hollyaxus to CatKyle from Selina Kyle (Catwoman) but most people from game still call me Holly. Now when I choose names for new characters I just call them all Cat or Purr something.

What other types of games do you like?
To be honest I haven’t played much games at all! I’m fresh in the world of gaming.

Aside from gaming, what other hobbies do you enjoy?
My biggest hobby outside of gaming is dancing.

What’s your D&D alignment? Do you think it’s accurate or not?
I scored neutral which seems about right but tbh I have no clue about these things so who knows!

What do you put on your pizza/hamburger/sandwich (pick one)?
Veggies!

Design your trip around the world – which 5-10 countries would you visit?
What a question! Well one day I’d like to take go on a train tour from London all the way to Capetown.

Are you a glass half full, or glass half empty kind of person?
I’m a bit of a paradox I’d say. I tend to be an idealists and the bitterest of cynics simultaneously – a seemingly impossible conflict maybe. But from a rational point of view it makes sense. I think that effort, intelligence and consideration makes anything possible yet at the same time we often seem to be too lazy, short-sighted or self-serving to actually achieve what we are capable of. So cheers!

What motivated you to start your blog?
I wanted to get back to writing. Psychology has always been an obsession a passion of mine and gaming was what I was doing at the moment. Gamers Decrypted was born.

How did you come up with your pseudonym and/or what does it mean?
Noctua is the owl star constellation. It seemed suiting as I mostly write in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep.

What’s the most stressful part of blogging?
Everything that isn’t the actual writing part.

Mylex answers:
When did you start playing MMOs?

2001. Asheron’s Call. Darktide Server. REAL pvp, not like you youngsters have it today with your safe zones. New blog post coming on that soon.

How do you choose your character name(s)?
My room mate and I in Asheron’s Call called our first characters Mylex & Tylex. No grand story beyond that :3

What other types of games do you like?
I enjoy being carried in CS:GO (shout out to Maul & Val,) carried in L4Dead (shout out to Maul & Val,) and very much enjoy tactical and strategy games. I Exclusively enjoy the latter against an AI, though, whereas I exclusively enjoy the former against other players. I think one is about competition and one is about puzzle solving XD

Aside from gaming, what other hobbies do you enjoy?
I watch and play rugby. Well, at the moment I am injured, but I am planning my comeback in September. I like rugby because it is THE BEST GAME IN THE WORLD. Also, as a real man, we don’t wear body armour or helmets like Americans :3

What’s your D&D alignment?  Do you think it’s accurate or not?
Chaotic Good. It probably isn’t, it’s probably Lawful Good but nobody grew up in the 80s saying “No, no, no – you be Maverick, I want to be Goose!!”

What do you put on your pizza/hamburger/sandwich (pick one)?
I put hamburger on my pizza, then make that the filling in my manwich.

Design your trip around the world – which 5-10 countries would you visit?
OMG OMG – Easter Island, Machu Picchu, Giza (again,) Killimanjaro (again,) Kenya (again.) I did some volunteering in Kenya a few years ago when it was a little safer and I’d love to go back and see those places without getting my face murdered.

Are you a glass half full, or glass half empty kind of person?
I am a “glass contains 50% of it’s potential total contents” type of person. Just the facts, ma’am.

What motivated you to start your blog?
Holly made me and said she would tip my bins over if I didn’t 🙁

How did you come up with your pseudonym and/or what does it mean?
It doesn’t mean anything. My room mate and I just wanted something with two sylables that sounded kind of cool.

What’s the most stressful part of blogging?
Holly tipping my bins over when I am late. I kid, I kid.
